Urban-Muse Commerce

A couple weeks ago we heavily tested our slogan "Make Art. Paint Things. Be Awesome." to overwhelming response. So we put our money where our mouth is, (Literally) and printed an entirely new line of Mens and Womens Tees and Hoodies screenprinted on American Apparel. These things are NICE. And what better way to launch Urban-Muse commerce than by practicing what we preach. They are made in extremely limited quantities and we expect them to sell out QUICK. So snag one while you can.

The Mona Lisa Curse

Monday, November 15, 2010 12:41:03 PM PST

This is a pivotal documentary that anyone in the arts owes it to themselves to see:

It is as much a scatching indictment of the current art commoditization scene as it is a fanciful look back at what might have been; had certain artists, institutions and collectors not changed everything.

Bad Dads: A Tribute To Wes Anderson- Lopo Gallery SF

Sunday, October 31, 2010 4:10:17 AM PDT

Stopped by the newly opened Lopo Gallery to see this incredible show put on by Spoke Art Editions. The gallery was slammed, and there were so many wonderful paintings. Wes Anderson + Badass art + San Francisco +Halloween = Hipster Magnet. Lot's of wonderful themed costumes were in attendance. The audience at the show was half of the fun/attraction... You know how Blizzcon and Anime Expo have alot of nerds/geeks? Well imagine that but with hipsters. Everyone was dressed to the nines in their favorite Wes Anderson costumes. (some may have not been dressing up) The showing was very strong, we overheard one of the artists mention they were approached about the show over a year ago, the time spent and dedication put into this show was really apparent.

Congratulations to all the phenomenal artists involved! It was really an impressive and memorable show.

These are just some of our favorites, there was so much more art.  It was so full it was difficult to get photos and we couldnt get everything.

Urban-Muse welcomes Xiau-Fong Wee!

Saturday, October 16, 2010 4:32:32 AM PDT

We are very pleased to announce our latest artist Xiau-Fong Wee. Xiau-Fong is our most prolific artist, who also happens to be our youngest. She is incredibly strong, and incredibly dangerous. We believe Xiau-Fong represents the very best type of artist who has benefited from hardcore, intense art training in a academic setting; while still retaining a very powerful and truly unique aesthetic all their own.

Xiau-Fong has a very strong reputation as one of the new powerful forces in her school. During conversation we would often hear her name pop up many times in the whisperings of other artists, and see her name consistently pop up in group showings. We became familiar with her work initially via facebook and her blog well over a year ago, and have been watching her consistently deliver exceptional works of art. Her work feels like it might fit in well among dark artists such as Chet Zar, Paul Booth, and Last Rites type dark artists. Xiau Fong’s work is dark, dark, dark and frankly a bit scary. She ...

The Decline of Western Headaches

Monday, October 11, 2010 3:22:55 PM PDT

I had all these thoughts pouring through my head, reciting word for word of what I was going to post. Days of thoughts, day's of opinions, days of bullshit. When the time finally came that I would have approximately one hour to upload my drawing, post it on here and share on other sites my mind went blank. As usual....

Urban-Muse welcomes Gabe Larson!

Saturday, October 9, 2010 1:44:35 AM PDT

We are proud to announce the newest member to our family of artists. Mr. Gabe Larson. Gabe will be working with us on 2 of our upcoming shows and posting on Urban-Muse. We are ecstatic!

Gabe Larson Urban-Muse.com Promo

We have been admirers of Gabe Larson's for over a year now. We first became aware of his work during our Involvment with the Second Death Cheater benefit for Benny Diar.  Benny "King" Diar is a quadrapalegic street artist/rail car legend. Benny was kind enough to ask Decimus (this sites founder) to participate in the Second death cheater show, and we were more than happy to donate two of our best large works.

For both shows Gabe painted rather awesome and very compassionate portraits of Benny. The show was primarily comprised of some of the hardest hitting street artists from all over the world, and Gabes highly detailed/modeled portraits really stole the show. We still didn't know much about Gabe, but we were fans of his. Urban-Muse has existed since 2007, but in less than a year it has really exploded. We've...
